Once you’ve paid out the initial expense for cat enclosures, they actually save you a lot of money. This is of course because when you go away, you don’t necessarily have to pay out for the expense of catteries. With a cat enclosure and the help of kind friends to feed and comfort your precious cat/cats, while you’re away, catteries are not needed. Naturally there will be times that you will be using the services of a reliable cattery when the needs be.
Make sure if your cats are placed in a cattery, that it is well known and reliable. There are some great ones and some really dodgy ones. Most cats, of course, are more than happy to remain at home, till your return and with a cat enclosure, reliable carers and their home comforts, you will be ensured of a happy and safe cat to greet you. If you must use a cattery make sure you go through a referral and get one of the really good ones.
When you have cat runs installed it is so important to allow access from the enclosure into all or part of the house. This is especially important when you go away for any length of time. With access to the house direct from their enclosure your cats can get inside the house in the event of a fright or bad weather.
If your cats are safely in their enclosures and have access to the house then as long as food and water is available you can go away knowing they are safe. If your good friend who is coming in to feed cannot spend a lot of time with your cats while you are away then maybe every second day will do for feeding. This is providing obviously there is ample good quality dry food available for the days the carer does not come in.
You know every person I speak to who has built a cat enclosure cannot believe how it impacts their lives in such a positive way. As we have previously mentioned this doesn’t have to mean your cats don’t ever run free again – not at all. It simply means some of the hassles and worries about your cats disappear.
