Bill Mulling Over Which Weapon To Use If She Tries That Cat Carriers Caper Again

Suitable cat carriers to use for airline travel should be determined by the nature of your cat and the airline requirements. In countries where airlines permit pets to travel with their owners some folk recommend soft sided cat carriers. These come in the style of lovely soft bits and pieces with precious mesh inserts. Naturally extra straps so you can slip the cat carriers over the trolley handle and then you don’t have to even carry them. So all the time this is going on do they truly think Bill Aka The Border Collie Cat has been sitting quietly buffing his nails.

Yes, can’t imagine Bill the ‘Border Collie Cat’ taking kindly to any form of cat carrier at all, unless it was enormous and lined with rat fur and innards. To park him in a state of the art, poncey, padded cat carrier to travel anywhere, by car or plane, would insult his feline intelligence beyond bounds.

To each their own, and so it should be, but it doesn’t hurt to reflect before purchasing cat carriers, the reason you are buying it. It should be expressly for your adored fur friend to travel safely within, with no hope in hell of getting out. I favour the sturdier variety of cat carrier for the simple reason being, it IS sturdy, not like the fashionable soft, padded, ermine lined numbers that come replete with a built in bar or something to that effect. The visual impact on the eyes and status may well be the reason for having your mind set on one of these luxurious models, but in the end heavy baggage, transportation and unknown dangers, could result in a squished, unhappy cat.

The beauty of a solid, unsquishable cat carrier, is the knowledge that Mr or Mrs Moggie will arrive in suitable shape at your destination and not resemble a pussy pancake. It also has the advantage of supplying the loved one with a feeling of security which is sadly lacking in the padded version. The carrier can be made into a comfortable nest with just a soft cotton blanket and maybe a rub of catnip, if the occupant so desires. I have no doubt at all, in my mind, this is by far the best option.

So having covered the safety issues, we now come to the comfort issues. Your cat will be fine with, a fore mentioned blanket etc, he does not even want to be in the cat carrier to begin with, so why go to the extremes with an over the top, fashion statement. Please don’t embarrass your poor puss with a trendy pile of plush carrier, that comes with a soothing word of how your cat won’t damage his claws in transit. Every cat in his right mind would go troppo, trying to get out and as we, the staff of these magnificent felines know, what’s easier to manage. Yes, that’s right! The removal of a cats’ claw embedded in soft something, or having nothing to hook the claws into, in the first place. Not exactly rocket science, now, is it.

On that note, I will adjourn since I have a Border Collie cleverly disguised as a cat, leering over my shoulder demanding that I cease and desist writing about cat carriers, which is giving him claustrophobia by osmosis, and who am I, mere mortal, to disagree!
