Your Darling cat needs to get outside and feel the wind on their face and breathe in the fresh air. That’s why cat enclosures are the solution. You know how you feel when you don’t see the sunshine or smell the fresh air for a couple of weeks. It’s like having a good dose of cabin fever!

Your cat is no different! You can call them cat cages, cat runs, or an outdoor cat house. Whatever you decide to call them they improve the quality of your companion cat’s life enormously.

It’s not always possible to let your precious cat outside because there are dangers for them. There is traffic, human predators, fierce dogs, unattended sheds to wander into and then be locked in and the list goes on.

The obvious solution is to provide some form of containment for your cat. Now depending upon your situation there are a multitude of options that you can provide. All of these options are going to keep your beloved pet safe and at the same time allow them the benefits of being outside.

If you live in a ground floor apartment then the solution to giving your cat access to the outdoors may amount to a small window enclosure or window perch with secure window coverings. The enclosures you provide are only limited by your imagination.

Even if you have no access to the outside available at all from your apartment then there are wonderful portable enclosures available that you can consider. What a wonderful bonding time for you both to take a good book and sit outside in a quiet spot with your loyal companion while they enjoy the fresh air. All the time you can relax because your precious pet is safe.

For those with more space the playpens can get even more creative and spread out. If you’re living on the ground floor here’s an idea. Why not create a run connecting from one window of your apartment to another window. This way ‘Reggie’ can wander outside safely in his enclosure, look around and then come in the other window. Now he is invigorated and feeling much happier.

For those with garden area to spare then we move up to luxury living. Reggie can not only loll in the sunshine enjoying the fresh air but he can jump around and frolic.

Once the area and situation is established as to where your companion Reggie cat is going to venture outside then we must consider the materials to use.

If you are intending securely taking Reggie outside in his portable enclosure then we are looking at flexible light weight enclosure material.

For those with more space and the outdoor cat house will be fixed then there are a range of solid sturdy structures available.

The investment required will vary depending upon your budget and the product.

Paramount to any of these considerations is always the safety of your loyal subject (your cat). Remember to provide locks on enclosures if they are unattended otherwise intruders could let you precious pets escape. Also, aspect is extremely important. If Reggie pussycat is locked in his cat cage and can’t remove himself from strong sunshine or rain blowing in on him then this would be all wrong.

All in all cat enclosures are going to make you feel a lot happier that you are offering this improvement to your cat’s life.

For keeping your precious cats safe from potential threats to their safety and health nothing beats a cat enclosure. You also offer them a degree of freedom, and fresh air. Purrfect fence is the easiest and simplest solution for fencing off both smaller and larger areas. The concept is amazingly simple but highly effective. Thousands of cat owners who have used Purrfect fence are extremely happy with the results.

Ideally we all have a small patch of land that we can fence off for our cats. The size of the patch will determine what you can do to make an enclosure. Regardless of size, cat enclosures must contain interest in them. Your cats will love them then as a play area rather than a place of confinement and boredom.

If you have a larger area then all it requires is to fence it off using Purrfect fencing and you’re ready to go. The fencing is easy to assemble and you don’t need any particular handy man skills to get it up.

Once your enclosure is up then the next step is to let the ‘girls’ and ‘boys’ frolic full of fun and freedom but remain free from harm. This is such a comforting thought for cat owners.

When our cats are free roaming any true cat lover knows that we can’t help but get niggling thoughts now and again about our cats safety. There is always the fear that when we arrive home darling Petal Girl may not be there to greet us.

Fencing off an area as a cat enclosure gives you total confidence to leave home. You know that when you return there is going to be the usual joyous welcome and pats all around with no little cats missing.

If your available space for an enclosure is smaller then you may consider using Purrfect fence and simply confining your cats to a smaller area. Otherwise you may consider other products more suitable for the proposed area. Please take a look at some of the videos featured here for suggestions.

In smaller enclosures be sure to include interest into the area. Position platforms or comfortable beds off the ground so your cats can loll in the sun. Then when they have finished sunbaking offer them some cat grass and a large solid scratching post to create interest. Also add any of their favorite toys to amuse them.

The subject of providing interest and stimulation to support a cat’s emotional wellbeing is often over looked by cat owners. It is an essential that cats are occupied during their waking hours with company and things to occupy their time. So many unfortunate cats are bored witless with their daily routine. This can lead to behavioral problems in cats. Boredom is rarely recognized as the cause and cats can end up being treated for all sorts of weird and wonderful maladies.

If your cats are currently free roaming then it is time to weigh up the benefits of cutting back on a bit of their freedom and instead adding another decade to their life. Free roaming cats face many potential threats to their safety. Many of them you are not even aware of. In fact will never know what it was that caused your darling cat to not be waiting for you when you arrived home. You never saw him again to ask what happened!

Cat enclosures don’t necessarily have to mean your cats never run with you again in the parts of the garden that aren’t fenced off. If it is safe for them to keep you company and help you in the garden outside of their enclosure then that’s another option. Naturally you can keep a watchful eye on them while they are out of their enclosure and make sure they don’t stray.

Who is going to be more excited the day the cat enclosure is finished – you or the cats? Good luck with the project.

Cat enclosures are perfect for some small dogs as well as cats! So I guess we could call them dog enclosures also. Cat enclosures for dogs basically can be used for all the same reasons we use them for cats. If you have a small dog or an unsecured property then confining them safely while you are at work is ideal. Old dogs who are not quite the dog they used to be benefit from being kept safe while you are away from home also.

Our old dog suffered from anxiety whenever we left home to go to work and if anyone ever left a gate open he would head off looking for us. In fact he would get himself wound up as the day wore on and he would become more and more anxious. This resulted in pacing in circles around the house. We realized he would need to go in with our cats during the day when we were at work. Because our Clarence was an old dog we made up soft beds low to the ground so he didn’t have to jump. Also we left a radio playing softly during the day. It was just loud enough for him to hear it. More importantly we put it on a radio station that had some talkback and then alternated with soft music. Definitely no rap music for an old dog, this would not calm him!

Naturally our cats were in their cat enclosures during the day and this was added company. Any animal lover who has had both cats and dogs will know cats and dogs can become the best of pals. Unfortunately the little cat our Clarence had buddied up with had died. Prior to this happening Clarence and his friend always slept cuddled into each other. Even if none of the other cats were his best pals we found simply the presence of the other animals helped.

A dog has the same requirements as a cat when left in an outdoor cat house. That is they need plenty of fresh water and protection from the elements. All the good cat enclosures have access back into the house. This is especially important if there is a storm or really bad weather while you are away. You will find your dog will generally pick the same spot in the enclosure to do his ablutions. Cleaning is no different than if dogs do it in the garden. There really is no need to have dogs fretting at home by themselves while you are at work. Providing company for them is as simple as giving them a pal. A cat can be an excellent pal for a dog. And you can be away from home stress free knowing that your pets are safe and sound in their enclosure.

Cat enclosures really do revolutionise cat owner’s lives. It is the convenience of having somewhere to put your cats and know they are safe when you want or need to be away from home. Now this can be when you are away at work and working long hours or maybe it ‘s a much needed holiday.

As much as your cats are family there are times when we all need a holiday and the cats can’t go with you. It’s a bit similar to one’s children. If you had to leave them behind when going away you would need one hundred percent reassurance that they were in good hands.

Cat enclosures must be built well and address all the essential things. This includes aspect, access back into the house and interest in the enclosure. If this is all done then you can go away and not have to concern yourself about worrying about your pets. Naturally having a reliable person to come in and feed and clean is a must. The perfect solution here is to find other cat owners in the neighbourhood who have similar lifestyles. Then you can have an arrangement between each other to look after each others cats while each of you go away.

This is what we do in fact. We have found some ‘cat’ folk who live about five minutes away. Both families have cat enclosures built and we look after each others cats in the others absence. This does take some planning ahead so you don’t overlap with dates. The advantage here too is that each of you gets to know the other persons cats. This saves time with feeding and cleaning as it all becomes very familiar. I only need to spend about ten minutes maximum attending to our neighbour’s cats when they are away. This can be done on the way home from work. I don’t need to go in and spend time patting their cats as there are three of them and they keep each other company while their owners are away.

So build proper cat runs and then find some like minded cat owners in the area. You will not only save a ton of money but also it gives you freedom of movement without worrying about your pets safety and there’s no lost cats while you are away.

A very brief history of cat enclosures, including the advantages of having one or more, is about to hit this page. Not being at all savvy with cat enclosures is one of the reasons that this page will be brief. Confused? Okay, so am I, so this is my personal experience with these structures.

Many friends (not that I have a great deal) have erected cat enclosures either off the house, or free standing in the backyard. The primary use being the safety of the feline/s from the elements that have increased in danger as humans decrease in brain power. Namely traffic, anti cat neighbours, hungry pelicans ad infinitum, so of course the safety of the miouwster of the house, is of paramount importance.

Also keeping cats incarcerated behind mesh, would benefit the wildlife enormously, while humans continually breed, pollute, eat fried chicken, pull down forests and drive SUVs into oncoming birds and negligible non important animals. Yes, all in all I can see cat enclosures becoming the earthly saving grace for all animal kind! Why every cat owned purrson hasn’t been approached by governments, willing to supply these world saving erections for free, is totally beyond me. Obviously they haven’t thought of it yet, so I won’t be too quick to judge.

I feel that we are about to encompass a new dawn, where every cat will be ensconced in cat enclosures thereby freeing the populace to continue raping the planet, whilst tripping over mice at plague proportions and looting and burning natural habitats of nearly extinct wild life. This, what the cat has been guilty of in the past, would of course still occur, but by human hand which is definitely more acceptable and quicker, which is something humans like.

I am thinking that when this yet to be nurtured fantasy may become a reality, I would have the bare basics packed ready to join my fellow feline conspirators in the safety of the nearest cat house, and if luck shined down upon me, someone might throw me a piece of fried chicken on the odd occasion! I’ll be happy.

One of the wonders of the new age for cat owners is the popularization of the outdoor cat house. This invention has given cat owners such peace of mind that their darling cats are safe and secure from all sorts of hazards and predation while they are not at home to care for them. One of the many advantages to having an outdoor cat house attached to the house is that you will save a heap of money! This is because when you now go on holidays your cat doesn’t have to be put through the trauma of being put in cat boarding kennels.

Cat boarding is quite expensive nowadays and we understand that the price can be justified depending upon the cattery. Owners of cat kennels have a huge responsibility to take care of your cat and keep it safe while you are away. Cats have been lost from cat kennels! Imagine if you put your cats into boarding only to come home and find they were gone forever! As well cats have to be protected from any disease while they are in such close proximity to other cats. Not least of all most cats are extremely upset when they are placed in kennels. There are strangers, other cats they don’t know, new surroundings and different noises. This is enough to freak the most well adjusted cat out.

Naturally there are some excellent catteries but there are also some dodgy ones. Some kennel owners board both cats and dogs to try and maximize on there earnings. You can imagine the fright and terror for a timid cat placed in close proximity to a group of barking mad dogs!

Therefore all of this makes building a outdoor cat house/cat enclosures very attractive. A couple of holidays at fifteen to twenty dollars per night in the cattery should recover the cost of building the cat house. Cats are so much happier when left in there own environment. Plus you remove the chance of your cats being lost!

Once you have ensured the cat house is filled with things that are of interest to your cat and access back into the house from the cat house for your cats is organized then you can think about holidays. You will need a reliable person to feed and clean litter trays while you are on holidays. A family member or good friend who you can trust to come in and care for your cats is ideal. There are folk who do this for payment but do make sure to get referrals from other people before you go off and leave your animals with them.

Cats do not need tinned food everyday. Therefore while you are away good quality dry food will be sufficient for them. This is providing naturally that we have excluded old cats or cats with illness from this this. Cats with special needs obviously must be catered for differently. However the average adult cat really does not need a lot of attention while you are away especially if they are left comfortably in their own surroundings. Naturally they will miss you however you will find they will actually curl up and sleep to pass the time and allay anxiety.

Some cats will prefer that the carer leave them alone and not fuss around them while you are gone. However there will be some cats who will enjoy a pat and some attention. Food, clean water and emptying of the litter trays are all that will be required of the carer while you are gone so there isn’t a lot to do. Dry food can be put done in bulk amounts if the food is inside. Feeding cats outside is not a good idea because the ants can easily get to the food. Also the smell of the food attracts other cats around. Clean water is easy enough to monitor and emptying the litter tray is a simple chore. Your cats will be much happier at home when you go away and long term you will save a ton of money.

Cat enclosures weren’t heard of in my childhood days. The only thing that enclosed a cat in the stone-age was the cave you resided in, amid a pile of other smelly bodies including the family dog, who was responsible for the majority of the nose destroying fumes. The cat was generally the most hygienic member of the cave clan and when evening descended, had the nous to disappear outside for a breath of fresh air and a couple of satisfactory hours, caterwauling with the neighbouring, sabre-toothed felines.

Not that the thought would have crossed our Neanderthal brains for a second, for who in their right mind thought the family feline deserved penning up like a lowly clucker! The cat on the odd* occasion would decide to sleep in the chook house any way, if it felt so inclined, but mainly for a bit of peace and quiet away from tiny, stinky savages whose idea of cat play involved it being picked up under the tender furry cat-pits and possibly being dressed in dolly dresses.

Nowadays, the term cat enclosures can encompass a wide range of cat friendly erections, basically to keep our precious fur owners safe from the ever encroaching dangers of over-population and the lack of compassion that unfortunately has accompanied said humans along the way. I find myself ever watchful for signs of aggression in children and adults towards animals, and getting cranky in my latter years, have no problem with saying my piece. Generally, avoidance is the best measure and if friends insist on dragging little Johnny along for a visit, with his known anti-animal traits, I’m not adverse to poking my foot up his bottom. I now have no friends with ‘Little Johnnys’, which is in all, marvelous for me AND my adored animals. Maybe in the future if cat enclosures become a must have item, I will probably live in it myself!

As wonderful and as liberating that cat enclosures are that does not mean that is the end of the responsibility towards your cat and offering him/her a lifestyle and companionship. Hopefully anyone who has adopted a cat intends including him as part of the family. We one hundred percent reject these irresponsible people who take on a pet whether it is puppy or kitten and then lose interest in them as they grow into adulthood. In my experience I have observed some of our cats over the years have had more loyalty, love and trust than many human beings I have met on my life’s journey.

The Perfect Cat Chair For Cat Enclosures

That is why we hope once a cat run is built then there is still access to the house and this enables your cat to remain part of the family. Without love and nurturing everything shrivels up and dies whether it is two legged or four. If the cat house is big enough then chairs for everyone can be placed in them. The ideal chair for cats is of course the old fashioned cane chairs. The one in the picture actually came from a front verge during a ‘pick up your dead’ day which councils run once or twice a year.

Cats love to run and jump and simply have their freedom. A little like ourselves – no different. Therefore if you have a garden area then providing you are going to be around then this is the time to let your cats wander free without being confined in cat enclosures. Many people live in areas where there is next to no traffic and the neighbours are friendly. Therefore there is no reason to build cat enclosures if this is your living situation unless it is for the convenience of when you go away so cats don’t have to be boarded. Naturally though your cats still must be inside at night even when you don’t have a cat house. When the rest of the neighbourhood goes to sleep so should our cats. It is no different for dogs. None of us enjoy being woken up at night by barking mad dogs. It is a falsehood to constantly hear people saying cats are nocturnal. Cats that are cared for properly quickly, if they didn’t already, adapt to sleeping at night. I know my cats don’t even want to go out night. They are smart enough to know they may run into a large unsterilized tomcat who can do them a great deal of damage. Of course homeless cats are going to wander at night as it is the only opportunity they have to scrounge for food or hunt rodents. They certainly can’t come out during the day when crowds of humans are around and non stop traffic is everywhere.

Allowing cats outdoors to roam seems like a kind, humane act in order to allow them to explore. Domesticated cats that spend their lives indoors are not equipped with the instincts to recognize danger because they can always rely on the sanctuary of their cat carriers which their owners have provided for them. Cats that spend a part of their lives out of doors have shorter lives and are exposed to hazards such as poisons, moving cars and other animals while cats that spend their entire lives indoors are not exposed to these dangers. That is why providing your feline friends with their own cat enclosures will ensure they are safe and comfortable in a controlled environment in your yard.

Cat owners who know the risks of allowing their cats to roam can purchase online an outdoor cat house that gives the best of both worlds to both cats and owners. The main goal in purchasing cat enclosures is to allow cats to be able to roam and play outdoors without running the risk of getting into the street or in a fight with another neighborhood feline. Before purchasing or installing cat enclosures, owners need to “cat proof” their yard, looking for and removing any items that could pose a hazard. These include poisonous plants or sharp objects such as tools.

The aim of purchasing an outdoor cat house is to allow the cat safe outdoors access so he can enjoy an environment that is natural for him. His owners should install the enclosure so that their cat won’t be injured by a protruding screw, splinters or sharp wires. If they incorporate a tree, grassy area or tree stump as part of the enclosure’s environment, the cat should not be able to wriggle out of the enclosure through any holes left behind during construction. Escape from under the cat cage also should be sealed off. Pouring concrete before erecting the framework and sinking the wire mesh into the ground will help.

The outdoor cat enclosures do not have to be expensive to purchase or maintain. They can be as simple as mesh wire, wood, cat perches with carpet or as ornate as a gazebo with poultry netting. A cat walk, which allows the cat to roam from an upstairs window, can be included in order to allow the cat easier access to the enclosure and to give additional “play value” for the cat.

Many cat owners are investigating possibilities concerning cat enclosures. There are still owners whose pets safety would benefit enormously from them building cat enclosures. Unfortunately these are the very cat owners who probably won’t bother because they are not caring enough to put the energy into building cat runs. Cats are curious by nature and this curiosity can lead them into tragic consequences. Cats need protecting!

Many cats get themselves into trouble and become lost cats while owners are away at work all day. More cats still are killed on the roads at night when they are permitted to wander freely. Leaving cats out at night in suburbia is a travesty of being a caring owner.

It is at night when all is quiet and there are fewer people abroad that cats will venture further than their normal daytime territory. This widening of their territory often includes crossing roads. The vast majority of cats do not have road sense and will try and attempt the ‘dash’ approach to get from one side of the road to the other. Obviously the body of a cat proves extremely frail against the might of a car.

Nothing Fancy In Their Cat Enclosures But They Are Safe

During the day when you are at work and maybe your neighbours are away offers another opportunity for cats to wander further away. Garden sheds or garages with doors left ajar are an open invitation for cats to venture in and poke around. Sadly owners of the premises are unaware a cat is inside and can come along and lock the door. Sometimes cats get lucky and the owner of the property will return to the shed and open the door before the cat expires. This is maybe what happened that time your cat went missing for 10 days and eventually came home quite emaciated and weak.

Drains are another trap for cats. Many homeless cats live in drains but your cat who has only ever known the one home and territory hops down one of these and keeps wandering. He then doesn’t know where he is! When cats wander and get a fright they can jump unfamiliar fences and then simply just not know how to get home. Cats can manage grid designs very well for finding their way but if you put then in a housing estate that has a lot of cul de sacs and circles they are not so good are working out where they are.

Naturally when cat owners are at home most times the cat usually stays close to home. Cats should never be out at night. This is when humans generally prey on cats under cover of darkness and this is also when cats are killed on roads.

Your pets will love having cat runs that they can sit safely in during the night and look out at the mysteries of the dark that intrigue them so much. And when you get up in the morning your cat is safely waiting to greet you. It is inconsiderate to allow the noise of cats fighting at night to disturb neighbours. Besides have cat owners ever considered that when you hear cats fighting that one of those cats may very well be severely hurt by a bigger stronger cat. If the cat being beaten up is your Petal Flower then you are in for a hefty vet bill to save her. To avoid these terrible things happening to cats building cat enclosures is an easy solution.
